Other optional herbs would be: bay, nutmeg, thyme, lavender, star anise, poppy seeds, lemongrass
A crystal fragment of your choice, I chose amethyst and black tourmaline
A white, blue, or purple birthday candle (or regular sized candle depending on how large your container is)
A jar/bottle with a lid (cork works best!)
Add the herbs to the jar one by one, speaking their properties and how they will add to the power of the jar. Hold the piece of crystal and envision it becoming charged with energy before putting it in. Put the lid/cork. Light your candle and let a couple drops of wax fall into the lid, then affix the bottom of the candle into the wax so it stands upright unaided. Hold the jar with the lit candle going and envision the desired effects of the spell (ex: you seeing/talking with spirits easily, seeing manifestations and signs) Continue this until the candle has burned down to your liking and the jar is sealed by its wax.
i wrote and illustrated my own kitchen witchcraft book! potioncraft is an original written + hand-illustrated collection of recipes and rituals for beverages of all kinds. it features recipes for spiced hot cocoa, mulled cider, harvest sangria, and basil lemonade; it also features information on the magick of smoothies, teas, coffee and more. throughout the booklet are beautiful stippled illustrations that create a rustic witch-of-the-woods aesthetic.
the book is $8 and makes an great gift for yourself or another. buy it here. support witches!
Small psa to remember to thank your tarot cards, your pendulum, your crystals, your stored herbs, your plants, your pets, your tools, your grimoire, your friends, your spirits, your family, and anything else you may think of. They stuck with you through thick and thin during the last year or however long they’ve been with you, so show them some simple appreciation and start the new year on a positive note!
A while back, my boyfriend and I were talking about feeling disconnected from our deities. I gave him some advice that I’d like to repeat here.
First, it is not a vital thing to have a deep, exciting, saga-worthy connection to a deity. They do not have to be your bosom buddy, your confidante, or the most important figure in your life. If you never have any deep, personal interaction with them, and all they are in your life is a distant figure whose stories you find meaningful…that’s okay. That’s enough. That’s wonderful, and amazing, and perfect.
Mysticism does not have to be the backbone of your faith. To borrow a phrase that I heard often growing up Catholic, not all of us are called to spiritual service; most of us will live and die without ever intimately knowing the will of God (or, in this case, gods).
My advice is to make a list of all the things that first drew you to the deity or deities you honor. If it’s more a case of you feel that they called and you were compelled to answer, make a list of the things that made you want to answer.
Make a list of the traits, associations, and behaviors that made you look at that deity and say, “Yes, this is who I want to hold up as important. This is who I look at and am inspired by.”
Then do what you can to honor those things. If you value a deity’s creativity, do what you can to foster creativity in yourself and others. If you value a deity’s connection to agriculture, tend your own garden, support sustainable farming, or just stop to smell the roses. If you value a deity’s knowledge and wisdom, spend time researching and reading about the things you find interesting. Etc., etc.
These things don’t even have to be formally dedicated to that deity, if you don’t want to make them a big deal. It is enough to just do them, and live your life as a reflection of what inspires you.
You do not have to develop a grand, epic, personal relationship with a deity to honor them. You do not have to even fully believe they exist. It is enough to know what it is about them that you find valuable, inspiring, and worthy of emulation.
Three years ago, my constantly worsening sleep deprivation and stress resulted in a burnout. I’m 30 years old now, at the time of posting this comic, and I still haven’t recovered fully. I still have the heart symptoms - even the smallest amount of stress brings the symptoms back. It’s likely I will never recover enough to work a fulltime job again and I can’t go back to high-stress environments like customer service. But that’s alright. I am more than just my work. I’m slowly learning to be merciful towards myself and to show myself the same kindness I show others, and I think that’s very important.
I needed this. Especially the percentage part. As someone who compares myself to others a lot, I really needed that.
Your best is yours, not anyone else’s
Just to emphasize
holy shit….
like all the symptoms but heart ones are resonating so hard with me that I’m fighting tears….
Literally what happened to me. I’ll be thirty next year and luckily will finally be able to afford meds for my heart and all this anxious shit going on with my new job. It’s hard to admit, it’s hard to get help, but please try, just try your best, for your sake and all the people who care about you.
Ok, kiddies. Several of you have seen my post about the various resources and books I have in my Pagan/Witchcraft/Magick library and have asked “Where can I download the PDFs from?”
Well, now that things have calmed down a bit…Here it is! This post will always be growing as I find more PDF books. I did my best to organize them according to category.
Happy reading, loves :)

Can’t get your rooms energy to feel positive? Been in a depression for the last eon and no cleansing is helping the room?
Move your furniture around.
Seriously, that’s it. Sometimes moving the furniture is enough to shift the rooms energy and help unstick that goopy energy that needs to be yeeted the fuck out.
Whispers: also it’s an old hack for when you feel targeted by other witches or spirits. Sometimes changing the room is enough to throw off a curse or someone’s bad thought and energy being thrown at you. It has to do with taglocks and if the room looks different the taglock is different.
